Health Care Stocks Mostly Higher

Health care stocks mostly edged higher today, with the NYSE Health Care Index rising about 0.4% while shares of health care companies in the S&P 500 also were up almost 0.4% as a group in recent trading. In company news, Radius Health (RDUS) slumped as much as 11% on Monday after the biotech company earlier today reported a wider Q1 net loss compared with year-ago levels as its administrative and general expenses almost tripled amid a build-out of its commercial organization.

Net loss for the three months ended March 31 grew to $1.32 per share from a $0.94 per share loss during the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by Capital IQ had been expecting a Q1 net loss of $1.18 per share.
The company reported no revenue during the quarter, as expected. General and administrative expenses grew 180.1% to $38.1 million from $13.6 million during the the first three months in 2016.
