Haverty Furniture Companies Reports Improved Total Sales for Q2

Haverty Furniture Companies reported Friday sales for the quarter ended June 30 increased year over year even as comparable store sales declined from the prior-year period. The retailer of residential furniture and accessories said Q2 sales were $196.8 million, up 1.1% from $194.8 million in the same quarter in 2016. Comparable store sales were down 0.2%.

Havertys’ stores were closed for Easter with the holiday occurring in April this year versus March last year and the negative impact on Q2 written sales is estimated at 1.2%. After adjusting for the Easter shift, total written sales for Q2 were up 0.6% and written comparable store sales were down 0.7%.
